I have two precious girls, each a blessing. We found out Emily was on her way after I had taken a home test... I was sick sick SICK for all but the last 2 months of my pregnancy with her. Three months later I wound up in the ER due to loads of health problems... I was so sick I had no idea that I was pregnant again. I spent lots of time in the hospital, went through operations, and had pretty little Evelyn nine months later. <3 <3 <3

I knew I was pregnant with my 5th child on Mother's Day 2009 I was probably 2 weeks pregnant and not yet late but I felt that "presence"
that fullness in my womb. So that morning when I was surrounded by my four boys having breakfast in bed I thought to myself this time next year we will have our girl. I didn't tell anyone til much later and the first person I told was my husband. We were away alone together for 2 days on a retreat and he couldn't believe it.

After a long history of irregular periods, I went in to my OBGYN to get hormonal birth control to regulate my cycle, to my surprise I was already 6 weeks pregnant! I was always uncertain about being pregnant but this time I was prompted to go to the doctor when I began to notice that my breast were sore. I told a friend (who was 3 months pregnant) and she planted the seed. When I got the positive result she was the first one I told! Looking back I feel a little guilty that my partner found out 2nd.

I took the test one morning when my husband was out of town - mistake! That's not something you share over the phone. I had to wait three LONG days before I could tell him the news face to face!

About a week before my period was due I had a little spotting, which had never happened to me before. My cycle is very regular, so being that early would have been very strange. I looked it up on the internet & read that that is the time when the embryo implants & spotting is a typical sign. I was so surprised! We had only been trying for a few months & I thought it would take much longer. Also, the previous month during my peak ovulation time we had family visiting, so I thought we'd probably miss the opportunity. However, our guest took off everyday for a few hours on his own, so... Then one week later when my period did not arrive, I was sure, but kept it to myself so my husband wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't turn out to be true. But I felt different already & pretty spaced out in general. I already had my midwife to be picked out, so one week late I gave her a call to schedule a consultation. She gave me the test, which was positive, of course. I was only 4 weeks pregnant, so she was incredibly kind, but cautious, because at that point anything can happen. I had this inner knowing that this was it, though, and gratefully everything has gone great! Our little one is now due to arrive in a couple of short months. We've been fairly quiet about spreading the news on a grand scale about our pregnancy. That just has felt more right & sacred to us, but we're thrilled! I hope you get a lot of comments for this great cause! Way to go pregnancy Awareness ladies!
