It’s a party! Well, it is REALLY a CALL TO ACTION. We are part of a group that is hosting a Public Breastfeeding Day event to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, and when you say celebrate, I say PARTY! We need you to come, will you consider joining us?
So here’s the scoop, the first week of August 2014 is World Breastfeeding Week. And at Pregnancy Awareness Month, we have taken it a step further, and have dedicated the ENTIRE MONTH of August to the theme of breastfeeding and nursing – for the 2nd year in a row! Woot!! Now The Bump has created a Boob-olution, where they are sponsoring public events with women nursing in PUBLIC this Friday.
Nursing in public is NOT sexual or lewd, it is feeding a hungry baby. And forcing women to breastfeed in public bathrooms (not very clean folks!), parked cars, or asking them to leave public places or de-board airline flights that they have PURCHASED tickets for is discrimination!
On Friday August 1, 2014, we will be a part of a LA County Boob-olution to support women who feed their babies, via their breasts, in public. We will have a spectacular event in LA at both Pump Stations: Santa Monica and Hollywood. There are also 4 other sites in LA County that you can participate at on August 1st: Yogaworks in Pasadena, South Bay, and Tarzana. AND in Agoura Hills at Playstation.
Bring your babies and toddlers, sport your cutest nursing bra and JOIN US!
If you are expecting or not nursing but want to support the cause, COME ON DOWN!
Here is where you RSVP to attend.
Do I need to mention that there will be Swag Bags? I hope not, but I have anyway.
Thank you to our partners The Pump Station and Nurtury and The Bump for creating such wonderful public service events for women and their children. Here is the official press release blurb. Go Boob-olution!
“In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month and to support moms who breastfeed in public, The Bump along with The Pump Station & Nurtury and Pregnancy Awareness Month are asking moms to Join the Boob-olution by breastfeeding on August 1st at one of six LA County locations. As many nursing moms may have experienced being told to “Cover up!” or “Not in public!”, this day we are standing up and saying, “You are doing the right thing, and you do not have to feel ashamed to feed your baby anywhere!”
Come with your little one and nurse freely alongside other mommies!”
And let’s cover the social media airways with status updates, links, comments, and images in support of breastfeeding. Use this hashtag on any Tweets, FB posts, Instagrams, and Pins please: #Boobolution
**REMINDER – Pregnancy Awareness Month’s blog post is for moms and expectant parents by moms (and of course some experts sprinkled in – and some mom’s are licensed board certified experts!). HOWEVER, we are not giving blanket ADVICE on what you should be doing, eating, how you should be exercising, parenting, etc. These are opinions, food for thought….think about it all, talk with your mate, and when it comes to diet, exercise, and health questions, ALWAYS discuss and seek advice from your medical health provider
