May is Pregnancy Awareness Month and we, at FIT4MOM, are thrilled to provide education and inspiration in the realm of prenatal fitness! There are so many myths around whether it is “ok” to workout during pregnancy and fears associated with that myth. We are living in a wonderful time where research has shown that it is not only OK, it is recommended in a healthy pregnancy! Here are just some of the benefits of adding fitness to a healthy pregnancy from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists:
· Helps reduce backaches, constipation, bloating, and swelling · May help prevent or treat gestational diabetes · Increases your energy · Improves your mood · Improves your posture · Promotes muscle tone, strength, and endurance · Helps you sleep better
Regular activity also helps keep you fit during pregnancy and may improve your ability to cope with labor. This will make it easier for you to get back in shape after the baby is born.
Enjoy this time of your life knowing that as you care for your own health and wellness, you are preparing your body to have the strength for motherhood!
