Did you know that In the United States of America 3 women a day die from pregnancy related complication?

Did you know that the highest percentage of these women is low income women of color?

At the Joy In Birthing Foundation we believe that with the help of a doula we can improve these outcomes.

On August 30th, at the Silent Theater on Fairfax, from 2 pm to 5 pm the Joy In Birthing (JIBF) will introduce and celebrate the community of volunteer doulas that provide free services through JIBF to 150+ underserved women a year in the greater Los Angeles area.

We are calling it our “COMING OUT PARTY” and we joined with Every Mother Counts to bring you a sneak peek at the segment dedicated to doula servies of their three part documentary called “Giving Birth in America.” “Giving Birth In America,” produced by Every Mother Counts, is a new three-part, short film series which examines some of the reasons that the U.S. is falling so far behind in maternal healthcare. The U.S. has the worst outcomes of any industrialized nation and is one of only eight countries where maternal deaths are increasing. The “Giving Birth In America” series follows pregnant women living in New York, Florida and Montana to document the final weeks of their pregnancies and examine their healthcare options.
